OILS

'I love working with oil paint as a material and particularly using the wet on wet technique for faces and figures. It's like working with clay, allowing me to almost sculpt and build the form of the face or figure stroke by stroke. This technique also enables the integration or melding of the brush marks, further adding to the feel of sculpting and cohesion. I have recently enjoyed glazing over a first layer of paint, once almost dry, which pushes the image back and allows a further play on a wet layer which creates more depth within the figure/face.'
